I ordered 2 Betta fish from here for the first time but realised I had chosen the wrong delivery service, so I should have paid £10 extra to make up for it. I called them up so I could pay for it and their customer service was a 100/10, they said i didn’t need to pay for it and not to worry! I was shocked because usually fish shops don’t do that! Received the fish and they are gorgeous and really healthy! I will and am definitely ordering from here again! Thank you 😃

I have to say that I have had a truly wonderful experience with Sims Tropical Fish. I was treated with courtesy and respect from the moment I placed an order. I realised as I researched the company that they normally deal with large quantities through their auction site and yet I felt just as important. Reputation is everything and they deserve a 5* rating. Jimmy, in particular, kept in contact right up to the point of delivery. He provided plenty of information and maintained a close contact throughout. I don’t know how they could improve and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone that enjoys this hobby, as I do.

Recently purchased an exotic catfish from Sims being winter and temperatures really low where I am I was in constant contact with Jimmy to choose a suitable delivery date to assure survivability as such when my new addition arrived the water was a little cold but he soon acclimatised to my tank and seems to be doing well so I will have no worries purchasing from them again, for anyone worried about buying fish online I highly recommend these guys. I’ve used SimsTropical a few times, and recently I ordered a Flowerhorn fish. The fish I received was very healthy and exactly what I wanted. This online fish store offers a wide variety of species, though for some rare types, you might need to wait a little longer. I paid for clawed frogs of different colours, but I was sent two the same colour. I queried this twice online (no phone number available), but in both cases I received no reply. The frogs themselves were great, but when paying this shop's higher prices, I expected better customer service. UPDATE: A few weeks later I had a call promising to correct this once the frogs were restocked. A month later, I was pleased an surprised to receive 2 albino frogs. I appreciate these frogs are currently tricky to obtain, so my initial review was rather hasty. Thank you Sims!

Three times now I have ordered fish from here. One was really good, the fish were good quality, well packed and arrived on time the other two times I was really disappointed. The fish which I was sent were not a pair or even the correct species. When I made them aware of the problem they went out of their way to help. They ordered the correct species and sent them out at their own expense. As the fish they sent were young it would be difficult to sex them so in order to get a pair they actually sent more fish than the fish that I ordered; 4 fish for a pair of Apistogramma baenschi ordered and 7 fish for 2 female Pelvicachromis subocellatus ordered. More than pleased with the resolution of my case.

I have to say the owner is an extremely responsible person. I ordered one Mississippi Map Turtle and one Reeves Turtle, but they sent me one Razer Back Musk Turtle and one Commin Musk Turtle. I was been told that the turtles I ordered are out of stock in whole UK. So the owner gave me a full refund and let me keep those wrongly sent turtles free of charge. Afterwards I ordered some fishes at this store and the owner game me more fishes than what I ordered. And today impressively, those fishes had babies. I'll definitely recommend this store as they have great customer service.

Small issue with an incorrect fish sent first time around, seemed to be a genuine error and was quickly resolved. I did receive the correct fish roughly a week after the initial delivery along with a follow up call to check everything was ok. Fish were well packaged, heat packs still warm and accurate tracking Information was provided. Will use again in the future because the issue was resolved and they seem to genuinely care that the customer is satisfied

I have used SIMs for some years now and i can say honestly that they are 'hands-down' the very best online aquatic live stock suppliers for the entire UK market. Personally the quality of the fish is paramount and of this they never fall short. Much better than 'shop' fish; in health, vigour, prodgeny, and this makes me feel safe when ordering. The packaging is always and without exception, perfect. No leaks, always buffered for safe transport, securely packed and labelled. My deliveries are always either on-time or early. Lastly, but by no means least, is their quality of service. They are always warm and chatty, and strike a great balance between being professional & friendly. I cant fault these guys and as 'online' is becoming the way of the world……. you wont go wrong with SIMs.

I emailed and asked them to send me a male Flowerhorn that had potential and boy did they said me a beautiful fish. More than happy with the fish and communication was great. As a new new starter in the hobby and wanted to keep African cichlids so I did a lot of research and watched a lot of you tube videos and came across a fish room tour of Sims Tropical Fish and was very impressed so when I was ready I order 14 2 inche peacocks and haps a couple of months ago the colours were quality and really looked good on delivery day and improved as they settled In to there new tank. So my first encounter was great Second purchase not so much Got a fish half the size of advertised Asked for an albino tinfoil barb and got a normal one Called them up and was assured they would get back to me and sort it out but They never have so I’ve learnt my lesson there… 2 orders in and still haven’t got the albino tinfoil barb I wanted unfortunately got a very low grade lacking in colour normal tinfoil barb which is not what I was after they instructed me to leave the fish in the bag until they got back to me but it got to 2 days and I felt cruel with no reply so had to let him in my tank Have since contacted them and they say they are working on sorting the problem out waiting for the right stock to arrive So looking forward to it being corrected 🙂 Update: they got back to me and made me a very happy customer 🙂 I lost a rope fish and the member of staff kindly offered to put 2 in my delivery to make it right along with a beautiful gold saum green terror which was the specified size 🙂 I love the rope fish although they are small but I will be making a repeat order for a nice big one when I get paid 🙂 Lovely staff and very good quality fish Delivery is always on point also 🙂

Couldn’t ask for better service. Had to call today as a fish was missing from my ordered. after speaking to the nicest guy in the world on the phone it turned out they was sending it separate due to deliveries their end and an email notifying me was misplaced. I ordered 1 killifish and he mentioned two on the phone. So I offered to pay extra as I only ordered 1 but he gifted it along with the cost of the extra delivery. I discovered Sims tropical online and managed to get every fish I've always wanted. I ordered the fish and choose a delivery date to which they accommodated my request perfectly and had the fish delivered to my address within 3 days. We get updates and tracking until the moment they are delivered to the door. The first time I have used sims,placed an order on Sunday evening and fish were delivered on time and in great condition.the website and payment system was great and easy to use.I ordered a few different Oscar’s a jag cichlid and a sailfin plec all fish arrived with great colours .they were packed in a polybox ,each fish was bagged separately then wrapped in a foil ,newspaper and heat pads. The day before delivery I had not had any confirmation my order had been sent out so I contacted Sims Tropical Fish via email and shortly after I received a apologetic phone call informing me that my order of Mbuna had to be delayed to the following week thanks to the bank holiday Monday for the queens death, which meant the currier company wasn’t taken any live orders until after the Monday. Good practice I thought. Despite this, Sims arranged a new date the following week and on a day of my choosing. The package arrived in good condition and well packed with a heat pad, paper and tinfoil. The fish were double bagged too which is great. I was disappointed to only receive half my order and when I chased this up I was told they were waiting for the other fish to arrive from aboard which was also delayed because of the bank holiday! I was told someone had tried contacting me the day before to inform me of this but I never received any call or email etc. *update, received a call today (27/09/22) informing me a shipment of African cichlids arrived today but unfortunately my fish were not included. However, they assured me my order will be prioritised as soon as it came in. Whilst I await this order I ordered some other types of Mbuna in which the guy I spoke with was more than helpful with assisting. I did discover my order of 6 x Pseudotropheus Maylandia Red Malawi African Cichlids 5cm, actually contained 10. Unfortunately, however, 4 were dead on arrival. Those that survived are thriving well in their new home. Overall, a great service.

So I got fish from an auction of these guys and made a deal with them. Gotta say they arirved super carefully packed and all looked amazing. One of the EJBD arrived with a cleffed mouth ( We named him bubba ) but as soon as I mentioned it a replacement was sent free of charge next day. Anyway all fish are doing amazing even bubbs and I have always had great interactions with the team at Sims. This tbf will now be my main retailer for online fish and stuff now. Thanks guys

Absolutely fantastic! From start to finish, my entire experience couldn't have been better. I have used many similar services in the past, but I will certainly never go anywhere else in the future, now I have found the perfect fish supplier. Just being able to pick up the phone to discuss my choices, the purchasing process and any other stupid questions I may have, with a true gentleman, with friendly genuinely helpful expert advice thanks to Martyn. Then a very reasonable price for some spectacularly beautiful fish in emaculate condition, exceptionally well packaged and delivered on time – and quick! Very impressed on all fronts with this firm . Had the fish I wanted , although not on their website, so always worth asking .there are lots of fish about so too many to list . Did me a great deal on them as well. My phone calls were answered /returned promptly ( I like to talk to humans) and always knowledgeable and courteous. I was kept well informed on how things were progressing. For me , this is a very important part of any business. Even if you can’t help , don’t leave the customer hanging, let them know what’s happening, even if it’s nothing. Anyway, was well chuffed that they could get my fish which seemed harder to track down than a copy of fly fishing by j r heartly. My order was placed before 09:00 and was received before 09:00 the next morning . The fish were well packed in polystyrene box , packing ,heat packs and a foil blanket. The only thing I can fail them on is that they didn’t give me the fish for free 😉. I would highly recommend this company and when I’ve saved up more good boy points from my wife , will be buying from them again . Many thanks and well done, bernie

Great service, healthy fish. I live up in the north of Scotland and it took a few days for delivery. But I'd rather wait a couple of days to have good quality happy fish. So pleased with our new little Betta from Sims. Quality website, huge selection at good prices, easy purchase with prompt dispatch. If I could this would be 10 stars! I would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin at Sims Tropical Fish for all of his knowledgeable advice, patience and excellent customer service. When I originally came across the website it all seemed a little hard to believe as it truly seems "too good to be true!" I called the number on the website and within a couple of seconds, phone answered, questions and concerned put to rest! I ordered a beautiful "bonsei" flowerhorn cichlid (bearing in mind I'm a complete novice in flowerhorn husbandry), the delivery process was flawless, communication and updates all the way through to delivery at my door, excellently packaged (considering how cold it has been, the bag was warm and very well insulated), received the next day, with competitively priced delivery. Usually it takes a fish several hours to colour up but this fish was in absolutely stunning condition, swimming and feeding within an hour! After a decade or more of fish keeping, I cant recommend Sims enough, excellent livestock, competitively priced, impeccable packaging and delivery. Please do not hesitate to order from the store and I look forward to a long fishy friendship and more orders! Once again thank you very much…. Unbelievable customer service. I live in the north east and had some fish delivered, unfortunately some of the fish didn't make it. I spoke to a guy on the phone (wish I'd got his name now) who was extremely apologetic and suggested another delivery date. Thankfully the second delivery was ok. Exellent service so far, wee bit expensive on some fish especially Channa. But overall well looked after fish and good condition. Would love to visit the shop as there is all types of fish to suit everyone, but it's over 400miles for me. Ordered 4 Discus, Corys and Amano Shrimps. All arrived by Courier safely, well packed and with a heat pad. Was very impressed with the quality of the discus. Normally would prefer to see and choose the fish I want but as there was nowhere local to purchase these fish I had to trust what was selected for me. I needn't have worried. Although they are juveniles, they were all healthy and colourful and true to the description. Neither were they stunted. They have settled in well, gained more colour, are feeding well and I swear they have grown within a week. Would definately use Sims again.

In all my years of fish keeping there were only a few times I had been greatly impressed, but I have been blown away by the service Martyn and his team provide at Sims Tropical Fish. Firstly the sheer promptness in terms of responding to emails and calls is unparalleled. It can be about anything e.g. questions about fish, requests, price lists etc and they will get back to you very quickly. Next the quality of the service, payment and dispatch is a very straight forward process and you are alerted throughout the way. The user interface is fantastic. Finally delivery through their courier DX Express was again a simple affair and the courier gave frequent alerts as to date and timings, which is of course very handy for busy people. The fish arrived in what only can be described as a wonderful state. Healthy, bright eyed, not a mark on them. They were packaged well for their journey, and even though mine was a large order, it was as perfect as it gets. I cannot recommend Sims enough, and at this time of writing I am indeed ordering from them again. They simply have revolutionised the way we buy fish for our hobby. Being a new person to the hobby i emailed Sims for advice on a new tank set up. The owner (Martyn i believe) emailed back to ask me to pass on my number so he could run me through some information, but i didn't hear back from him. We rang the shop twice, both times the phone went to a machine. We then did some research ourselves and decided to buy the fish tank, an Aqua Nano 130, from Sims. It arrived after a week after we ordered – one day late because of a delivery mix up. With help, i constructed the cabinet which, even though we followed the instructuions to the letter, still wobbled and has gaps in certain places where the wood doesnt fit together properly. We set about bracing the wobbles ourselves with chipboard screwed to the back. I then started putting the parts together into the tank, the heater works fine, but the pump (which according the manual has to be placed at the bottom of the back filter) came with a plastic pipe that is way to short to reach the outlet. I emailed sims to report this problem and i'm yet to hear back from them. So i went to Maidenhead Aquatics, told the man our problem, and he told us how to fix it in a 5 minute conversation. We had to make up the shortfall with a right angle in a new pipe that we had to rig together ourselves – the pipe supplied to us by Sims thrown in the bin. I can't blame Sims for all of this as i suspect the pipe came with the tank set from a supplier and the cabinet too obviously. But the lack of build quality in the cabinet and the insufficient pipe to products they are endorcing, as well as their real lack of communication doesn't really encourage me to buy from them again. Edit: All sorted now. Got sent a complimentary contingent of clean up crew fish, all of which 2 arrived unscathed due to the hot weather that day. Cheers.

I’ve never reviewed any shop before but feel these guys deserve the good feedback. I made an order for a gar, yellow jacket and a pearsi cichlid. He rang me to explain that he couldn’t get hold of the pearsi and so after a little chat and several videos of other fish we settled on another stunning fish. He also upgraded the Gar from a 10cm to 20cm fish for the trouble. Unfortunately one of the fish arrived and was in a bad way, although the packaging was top notch, I guess some fish just don’t travel well. the fish unfortunately died and after a few more chats ( and videos) he provided a very generous replacement offer and included the postage in the deal. All the fish are doing really well and are stunning. The service provided was exceptional and the fish amazing. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Thank you.

I have purchased a number of different fish from this company, really healthy specimens at great prices. I live around an hour and a half away from Sims, have had some fish delivered at a very reasonable price, but love to make the trip there when I get the chance too as they have a lot on show and it's certainly worth the drive. The team are more than happy to help with any questions/queries and are clearly very passionate about fishkeeping. Let just start by saying: what an amazing family run business! Seriously, it is really difficult to do better than what these guys are doing. I am a second time customer and the experience with Simstropicalfish gets better and better. The whole process from ordering to delivery was flawless. I had problems with the fish from a recent order. I phoned Sims and the gentleman I spoke to, I think it was Anthony, apologies if that is wrong, could not help enough. He was busy and promised to phone me back, which he duly did where by he ran through the stock you had suitable to be put with a mature tiger oscar. I have just received the most gorgeous Texas chilchid which will look resplendent in my tank. I cannot thank Sims enough for sorting the issue out quickly and without fuss recieving my replacement fish was with me in.less than 24hrs after my phone call. I would happily highly recommend Sims to any other fish keepers looking for something different.

Sims are excellent, there was a problem with my delivery which was no fault of Sims And the delivery service returned the fish I'd ordered back to them they sorted it out and resent my order minus the goby which had suffered in the delay, they sent two extra fish with my Order one of which was a Beautiful bircher and told me as soon as the goby was well it would be sent to me , I received the goby A month later fully recovered and I'm over the moon it was the one I was looking forward to the most and they didn't let me down ,I can't thank them enough they're a great team very friendly and the fish are second to none the quality is fantastic Very highly recommended. i was sent the wrong species of fish and emailed them about the problem pretty late in the evening long after they closed. i got a response instantly and we emailed back and forth for a while. they eventually got the fish i ordered in and sent it as soon as they could and took the fish they previously sent back . the help was great and they responded immediately every time i sent them an email and they answered every question i had . extremely friendly customer service and from experience much more helpful then all the other well known online uk fish stores.

Got another delivery from Sim’s Tropical Fish this morning. This time a 5.5” male (I believe) H. carpintis (Pearlscale Cichlid) that I only ordered from them yesterday afternoon. I trusted Sim’s to select for me as they had a couple in stock and they didn’t disappoint yet again. They sent me an absolute beauty, with great size, finnage and colour, even after an overnight double-bagged and heating pad trip in a polystyrene box with UPS to me. The fish arrived safe and well and is settling into his new home and has eaten already. As I said in my last review, I would thoroughly recommend Sim’s Tropical Fish to anyone thinking of buying some tropicals (or marines for that matter). You won’t be disappointed and I don’t worry about ordering from them for delivery. My fish always come in great shape and go into their new homes with no issues. This company are amazing! …. I’d been hunting for a while to establish a group of clown loaches and shopping around for a good supplier,after a few trials and errors , I looked at the reviews about this company and went ahead and ordered a batch of clown loaches for delivery to Cheshire…all the way from West Sussex!… Everything was spot on , from confirmation of delivery to the arrival on the exact date and time … and the care and detail to the packaging was amazing … the heat pad was still really snug and warm when I unboxed them! They were fighting fit, showed no signs of being “beaten up” in transit, and after doing the tank introduction and release they settled in brilliantly! They are still going amazing, and I will be using this company permanently from now on, as they really do deliver top quality fish and I would urge anyone who has doubts to read the reviews!

My fish arrived this morning. They were very well packaged in a strong polystyrene box, inside a cardboard box. The fish were inside thick plastic bags and had a heat pad to keep them warm. They are excellent specimens, in good condition and not at all stressed. They have settled happily into their new home. I am delighted with my purchase and would recommend Sims Tropical Fish for anyone wanting to buy fish online.

Bought 6 rainbow fish. Extremely close to dead on arrival. All died within 12 hours. Sims replaced the fish but a month later due to covid. I recieved 2 Rainbow fish and 4 unknown fish. The owner phoned after a negative review and has promised to send out a replacement batch next week

Had my first order delivered yesterday, they came well packaged, with heat pads and plenty of foil, all the fish arrived healthy and are good quality, after acclimatization straight into the tank looking for food, which is always a good sign, with the time they were in transit and with the freezing temperatures, I was notified that they were not going to be sent out, on the 4th with it been to cold and not been able to guarantee the delivery would arrive within 24hrs, all in all really good service and staff, will definitely be ordering again when the time comes, many thanks to Sims tropical the fish 👍🏻

Always a bit dubious about buying fish online but i am happy to say this was without doubt the best service i have had so far. The staff were fantastic on the phone, my puffer fish arrived the next day very well packaged and nice and warm from the heat packs, puffers can show black bellies when stressed but no sign on these guys at all. Sims Tropical Fish is now my go to for store for tropical fish after recently discovering them online, the variety & quality of tropical fish species blows the competition out the water (pun not intended). Martyn was extremely helpful in responding to all my queries, even taking time out of his evening to pass on his knowledge with the tropical fish I purchased. There was a delay with my delivery which caused some distress to the fish and injury to one however it was due to no fault of the shop but rather the courier. The fish themselves bar the injured one are now doing great and look fantastic. The shop were great at keeping in touch and did everything they could to help. Would definitely recommend 👌

I've used a few online resellers of tropical fish and goods over the years and I can honestly say that these guys are truly the best for customer service ….I ordered a bespoke aquarium from them and its truly amazing ….I've ordered puffer fish 🐡 and the quality is just stunning…I've now had my first batch of tropical fish and the service I have received is perfect 👌 I am a true hobbies when it comes to fish as I've over 7 tanks and a large koi pond and I really do find that ordering online and receiving the fish via carrier is the future as it saves such a lot of impulse buying 😀….

I have ordered twice from Sims. One was for 12 Peacocks/Haps where I emailed beforehand to make sure they have enough of a variety in stock. What was recieved was dissapointing, 4 of one spieces alone and then another 3 have turned out to be females of the same variety again(I did ask for all males, and if enough were present when ordering, they were advertised as large fish so should have been easily sexable). To the stores credit this was sorted out and a partial refund sent my way. The excellent customer service and well packaged delivery gave me confidence to order again, I order 4 of one speices, 2 different varieties and having allowed them to grow on a bit realised I have recieved 4 of a completely different spieces. These were all African Cichlids I had issues with, this tells me they don't have the expertise/knowledge with these fish which is no major fault as not many have and likely rely on the suppliers to get things correct. There may have been issues with both my orders but Martyn and his team get 5 stars for their customer service, always quick to sort out and not a hesitation on his side in regards to the cost of fixing issues. Im sure this shop will do great and wish you all the best. Dave

Wrote last time that the company kept changing deliver dates found out that this was down to no fault of the companys but down to there previous delivery company. The company got me the fish I wanted and was very helpful in sorting things out. Fish arrived on time and in perfect health so would definitely buy from these guys again one of the best places to buy some really cracking fish thanks again

very very very poor ordered corydora concolour from sims months ago. they sent me the wrong fish. they then said they would send the correct ones out. months later with many phone calls still no fish. I could have got the fish they sent from the shop on my road for 20 pound rather than paying them 100 pound to ship them. STAY AWAY VERY POOR New fish sent. Still not sure I got corydora concolour but itl do

Very happy with theirs guys…. After ordering with them prior to shutdown in spring, they couldn't get there delivers out due to being let down by couriers…kept my orders for me a couple of weeks, after which i went to there shop and collected…. nice guys and very busy…. like the honesty and updates in there weekly emaill.

Ordered 4 fish got 6 I have spoken on the phone with staff and found them really helpful. I have ordered from other companies previously and on occasion at the same time and both boxes arrived on the same day the sims box arrived with masses of insulation and the fish looking and actino great I had no losses and the fish have gone on to breed and are looking amazing . The other package that arrived had one dead fish and another died later that day .I will never shop anywhere else for live fish again sims all the way for me .

Absolutely fantastic, 1st time ordering fish online, they have now set the standard of how it should be done. Phone call the day before shipping to confirm the order and packaged very professionally. Arrived next day by lunch (UPS), all fish in excellent condition, with a heat pack and lots of insulation. In my opinion, the fish appear to be better condition than the maindealer shops and also better value. Will highly recommend

What can be said about Sims Tropical Fish, they truly are experts in fish. The range of fish available is quite extensive and the advice given throughout the sales process is second to none. I ordered a red fin pleco l024 off of sims through eBay, however there was a mix up and I got sent the wrong fish, we contacted them straight away to let them know, and they could not of been more helpful. I kept the fish that was sent by mistake, I told them to keep my money while they sourced the original plec I was after, It did take a while, what with the Covid situation at its peak, but they did keep in contact with me and give me the option of waiting or they offered me a refund with no hesitation, finally they managed to get hold of 1 for me ! And he is healthy with beautiful colouring, I would definitely recommend sims tropical and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again thanks guys

Ordered fish last month but said would take 3 weeks as backlog of orders because of covid 19. But following week a space was available so they rang me and following day received all fish sized as they said and all healthy and very well packed. Had slight issue but customer services was excellent!!! Very happy will definitely be getting more fish from here. So if your looking at getting something from here.. go for it 👍👍👍
