The Apure Jelly Catfish, scientifically known as Cephalosilurus Apurensis, is a striking freshwater species prized for its unique appearance and docile nature. With its distinctive rounded body and marbled coloration, this catfish adds a captivating allure to any aquarium.

Origin: Originating from the Apure River in Venezuela, these catfish thrive in slow-moving, densely vegetated waters. Their natural habitat consists of sandy or muddy substrates with plenty of hiding spots among driftwood or rock formations.

Feeding: These carnivorous ambush predators have a penchant for live or frozen foods, favoring earthworms, small fish, and crustaceans. They are nocturnal feeders and prefer hunting during the night.

Tank Mates: Due to their peaceful demeanor, Apure Jelly Catfish generally coexist well with non-aggressive tank mates. Opt for companions of similar size that won’t compete for food or harass them.

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
