“Introducing the Jerdons Carp Barb (Hypselobarbus jerdoni), a stunning and active addition to any freshwater aquarium. Originating from the rivers and streams of India, this species boasts vibrant coloration and a spirited demeanor, making it a captivating centerpiece.
Feeding on a varied diet including high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen treats, these barbs are omnivorous and thrive on a balanced intake.
When it comes to tank mates, they coexist peacefully with similarly sized non-aggressive species such as rasboras, loaches, and peaceful cichlids. Their social nature shines in groups of six or more.
While generally peaceful, they may exhibit territorial behavior during breeding periods. However, with ample space and hiding spots, aggression remains minimal.
An intermediate experience level is recommended for keeping Jerdons Carp Barbs, as they thrive in well-maintained tanks with stable water parameters. Aim for a pH range of 6.5-7.5, a temperature between 72-78°F (22-26°C), and moderate water flow.

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
