“Meet the Eight Banded Headstander (Leporinus fasciatus), a striking fish cherished for its distinctive behavior and appearance. Originating from South American river basins, these active, schooling fish showcase vibrant bands across their sleek bodies, creating a captivating display in any aquarium.

Feeding on a varied diet including high-quality pellets, flakes, and live/frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, they thrive in well-maintained tanks with ample swimming space. Ideal tankmates for these peaceful yet slightly territorial fish include similar-sized companions such as tetras, peaceful cichlids, and catfish that share their preferences for neutral to slightly acidic water conditions.

Despite their occasional territorial behavior, Eight Banded Headstanders generally maintain peace among tankmates when provided with ample hiding spots and swimming space. With a moderate level of care required, they suit intermediate aquarists familiar with managing water parameters between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C), pH levels of 6.5 to 7.5, and moderate water hardness.

INSURED UK DELIVERY COST IS FIXED AT £30 FOR ANY NUMBER OF FISH PER ORDER

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
