C125 Spotted Aspidoras Catfish Corydoras Aspidoras Spilotus 2cm

Overview: The C125 Spotted Aspidoras Catfish, scientifically known as Aspidoras spilotus, is a small, lively catfish with a distinctive spotted pattern. Closely related to Corydoras, this species is known for its active and social nature, making it a delightful addition to peaceful community aquariums.

Origin: Native to the slow-moving streams and rivers of Brazil in South America, the C125 Spotted Aspidoras inhabits areas with soft, sandy substrates and abundant leaf litter. They thrive in clean, well-oxygenated waters that mimic their natural environment.

Feeding: The C125 Spotted Aspidoras is an omnivore that enjoys a varied diet. They readily accept sinking pellets or wafers, and their diet should be supplemented with live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. They also appreciate occasional vegetable matter, such as blanched zucchini or spinach.

Tank Mates: This peaceful species does best when kept in groups of six or more, which helps them feel secure and encourages natural behavior. They are compatible with other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, and other small catfish. Avoid pairing them with larger or more aggressive species that may intimidate or outcompete them for food.

Aggression: The C125 Spotted Aspidoras is non-aggressive and thrives in a community setup. They are highly social, often seen schooling with other members of their species, and spend most of their time foraging along the bottom of the tank.

Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate. The C125 Spotted Aspidoras is relatively hardy and easy to care for, making it suitable for aquarists with some experience. They require stable water conditions and a well-maintained tank to thrive.

Water Parameters: To keep C125 Spotted Aspidoras healthy, maintain water temperatures between 72-78°F (22-26°C), a pH of 6.0-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water (2-10 dGH). A tank with a soft, sandy substrate, gentle water flow, and plenty of hiding spots, such as caves or plants, will provide them with a comfortable environment.

In summary, the C125 Spotted Aspidoras Catfish is a charming, active species that brings energy and personality to peaceful community aquariums. Their distinctive spotted pattern, social behavior, and ease of care make them a wonderful choice for aquarists looking to add an interesting bottom-dweller to their tank.
