Description

L002 Tiger Peckoltia Pleco Panaqolus Sp

Overview: The L002 Tiger Peckoltia Pleco, scientifically known as Panaqolus sp., is a captivating pleco species renowned for its bold tiger-like stripes in shades of brown and cream. This small, attractive pleco is perfect for aquarists looking to add a visually striking and active bottom-dweller to their aquarium.

Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers of the Amazon Basin, particularly in Peru and Brazil, the L002 Tiger Peckoltia Pleco thrives in rocky, well-oxygenated waters with plenty of driftwood. These conditions mimic the pleco’s natural habitat, where it spends its time hiding among rocks and feeding on submerged wood and plant matter.

Feeding: L002 Plecos are primarily herbivorous with a strong inclination toward consuming wood, a natural part of their diet. They should be fed high-quality sinking algae wafers, spirulina-based pellets, and fresh vegetables like zucchini, cucumber, and sweet potato. Offering driftwood in the tank is essential, as it provides both food and a place to graze. Occasional protein supplements such as bloodworms can be offered, but their diet should be predominantly plant-based.

Tank Mates: The L002 Tiger Peckoltia Pleco is a peaceful fish that can be kept with other non-aggressive species. Suitable tank mates include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, Corydoras catfish, and other peaceful plecos. It’s important to provide ample hiding places such as caves and driftwood to help them feel secure.

Aggression: The L002 Pleco is generally peaceful but can become territorial with other bottom-dwellers, particularly other plecos, if sufficient hiding spots are not provided. Ensuring a spacious tank with multiple hiding spots will minimize potential territorial behavior.

Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate. The L002 Pleco is a hardy species that adapts well to a variety of tank conditions, making it suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. Its manageable care requirements and attractive appearance make it a popular choice for a wide range of aquarium setups.

Water Parameters: To keep the L002 Pleco healthy, maintain water temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water (5-15 dGH). A well-filtered tank with moderate water flow and plenty of hiding places like driftwood and rocks is essential to replicate their natural environment.

In summary, the L002 Tiger Peckoltia Pleco is a striking and hardy bottom-dweller that adds visual interest and activity to any aquarium. Its peaceful nature and ease of care make it an excellent choice for aquarists seeking to enhance their tank with a unique and dependable pleco species.
