Brown Malu Anemone Heteractis Malu

Overview: The Brown Malu Anemone, Heteractis Malu, is a beautiful and resilient species known for its earthy brown hue and soft, flowing tentacles. This anemone is an excellent choice for aquarists looking for a subtle yet striking addition to their marine aquarium. It often forms symbiotic relationships with clownfish, offering a natural and harmonious look to reef tanks.

Origin: Found in the Indo-Pacific region, including areas like the Red Sea and the Maldives, the Brown Malu Anemone inhabits shallow waters and is typically found in sandy substrates.

Experience Level: Intermediate. The Brown Malu Anemone is relatively easy to care for compared to other anemones, but it still requires a stable, established tank with consistent water parameters. It is suitable for aquarists with some marine tank experience.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 75-80°F (24-27°C)
  • pH: 8.1-8.4
  • Salinity: 1.023-1.025 SG
  • Lighting: Moderate to high lighting to support its symbiotic zooxanthellae algae for photosynthesis.
  • Flow: Gentle to moderate water flow to keep its tentacles gently swaying without causing damage.

In summary, the Brown Malu Anemone (Heteractis Malu) is a graceful and relatively easy-to-care-for species that adds elegance to any reef aquarium. Its compatibility with clownfish and need for moderate care make it a great option for intermediate aquarists.
