Overview

The Water Cow Goby, also known as the Spotted Sleeper Goby, is a robust, bottom-dwelling fish known for its thick body, calm behaviour, and attractive spotted pattern. Its laid-back nature and unique appearance make it a standout addition to larger brackish or freshwater aquariums.

Origin

Found throughout the Indo-Pacific, including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and northern Australia. Inhabits slow-moving rivers, estuaries, mangrove systems, and coastal brackish zones.

Feeding

Carnivorous. Accepts meaty foods such as sinking pellets, frozen shrimp, bloodworms, and small fish. Provide a varied protein-rich diet for best health and growth.

Tank Mates

Best kept with peaceful to moderately sized tank mates. Suitable companions include larger tetras, rainbowfish, peaceful cichlids, monos, scats, and other non-aggressive brackish/freshwater fish. Avoid very small fish or shrimp that may be eaten.

Aggression

Generally peaceful but territorial toward its own kind, especially in small tanks. Keep singly unless housed in a very large aquarium with multiple hiding spaces.

Experience Level

Recommended for intermediate aquarists due to its size, dietary needs, and preference for well-maintained water conditions.

Courier Service Level Agreement

Our courier collects livestock from us on the evening before your selected delivery date. Delivery is made the following day before 1:00pm, with livestock maintained in the same condition and temperature as at collection.

Tracking details will be sent directly by our courier (DX) on the evening of collection. You will also receive a text message around 9:00am on the day of delivery with your estimated delivery time slot.
