DEAD ON ARRIVAL DELIVERY POLICY UPDATED 01/01/2021

 Please ensure that you have read and understood the DOA delivery policy before purchase as making payment will be an agreement to accepting these new terms and conditions. All orders placed for the delivery of live fish within the UK and Europe from 01/01/2021 will now be a transaction with our delivery company UPS. Selecting your fish for delivery is a choice against selecting the pick up in person option and a formal agreement to accepting the the terms and conditions stated by UPS. 


Through 2020 we have delivered nearly 20,000 boxes of live fish at a right first time rate of 97%.


With new BREXIT legislation taking affect for live stock transportation on 01/01/2021 within the UK and Europe and the additional volume increase of all deliveries driven by the pandemic, UPS will now take full accountability for all our customers orders of LIVE FISH and resolve any issues arising whilst within the supply chain. 


Please take the time to photograph or video the delivery and the bags as they come out of the box as your insurance policy. In the extremely unlikely event that any fish are harmed or dead on arrival due to issues created logistically by UPS, 


namely: 


  • 1. Temperature 
  • 2. Damage 
  • 3. Loss 
  • 4. Delay 


Then, Sims Tropical Fish Limited will no longer be held accountable and financially liable for issues beyond our control. We will no longer refund or replace any fish affected by the issues above. This will now be resolved rightly so, by UPS.


Sims Tropical Fish Limited is a customer of UPS also and cannot be responsible for the carriage from the point the fish leave our distribution centre until the fish are delivered. Our service level agreement is that the fish will be be delivered the next day before 2pm in the condition and temperature that they were collected in. Should you be unfortunate enough to experience any of these very unlikely issues detailed above you can now make a claim for compensation to UPS on:

All the information that you will require for a claim will be sent to you as tracking details by UPS the evening before your delivery date. You must ensure someone is at home on your delivery date to receive the livestock.


Sims Tropical Fish Limited will continue to be accountable for fish that are believed to be not as described from our website listing in terms of size or the correct specific species. These fish will be compensated as online store credit as a voucher sent through electronically once we are in agreement and have received supporting photographs. We do not refund shipping costs. 


We will obviously continue to pack our fish to the exceptional standards we are known for and will always be available to help with any problems regarding your delivery should they arise.


This is a minor change to our operating procedures which will only affect the very few. Should you have any questions regarding our policies please don't hesitate to call or Email us.
