“Introducing the stunning Congo Tetra, a vibrant gem for any freshwater aquarium! Originating from the Congo River Basin in Africa, these peaceful and sociable fish are a delight to behold with their shimmering metallic hues of blue, red, and yellow.
Feeding these omnivores is a breeze as they eagerly accept high-quality flake food, supplemented with live or frozen treats like bloodworms and brine shrimp. They thrive in a well-planted tank with ample swimming space and subdued lighting, preferring slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0-7.5) and temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C).
Known for their amicable nature, Congo Tetras are excellent community fish, best suited with non-aggressive tank mates such as other tetras, peaceful barbs, rasboras, or dwarf cichlids. Their non-aggressive demeanor makes them a perfect addition to community tanks, but their long fins may be vulnerable to fin-nipping species.
Perfect for aquarists of intermediate experience level, the Congo Tetra is relatively hardy, requiring consistent water quality and regular maintenance. We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
