“Welcome to our store featuring the elegant Black Molly (Poecilia sphenops)! Originating from freshwater habitats in Central and South America, these striking fish boast a sleek ebony hue that adds a touch of sophistication to any aquarium.
Feeding these omnivorous beauties is a breeze; they relish a varied diet including high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional treats like algae or live foods.
Perfect for community tanks, Black Mollies are generally peaceful and thrive among similarly peaceful fish species. They appreciate companionship and do well with other livebearers, peaceful tetras, and certain bottom-dwellers like Corydoras catfish.
Their temperament tends to be mild-mannered, making them an excellent choice for beginners. However, it’s important to note that males can sometimes exhibit territorial behavior, but this is usually mild and manageable in a well-sized tank with plenty of hiding spots.
For optimal care, maintain a moderate to hard water environment with a pH between 7.0 to 8.0 and temperatures ranging from 72°F to 78°F. These hardy fish can adapt to various water conditions, making them a fantastic addition to tanks of varying experience levels.

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
