“Blue Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are charming freshwater invertebrates cherished for their vibrant blue hue and ease of care. Originating from Taiwan, these shrimp thrive in well-established planted tanks with stable water conditions.
Feeding on a varied diet of algae-based foods, blanched vegetables, and specialized shrimp pellets, they’re simple to nourish and contribute to tank cleanliness by consuming debris.
Best kept in peaceful community tanks, they make excellent tank mates for similarly-sized non-aggressive fish like small tetras, rasboras, or peaceful dwarf shrimp species. Their gentle demeanor and lack of aggression make them suitable for a range of tank setups.
Blue Cherry Shrimp are perfect for aquarists of all experience levels, as they’re hardy and adaptable to a wide range of water parameters. They prefer slightly alkaline water with a pH around 7.0-7.5 and a temperature range of 68-78°F (20-26°C). Ammonia and nitrite levels should be kept at zero, with stable nitrate levels below 20 ppm.
