Description

Blue Lyretail Panchax Aphyosemion Gardneri 3cm

Overview: The Blue Lyretail Panchax, also known as Aphyosemion gardneri, is a captivating and colorful species of freshwater fish that brings a splash of vibrant hues to any aquarium. Renowned for their striking blue coloration and elegant lyretail, these fish are a favored choice among aquarists looking to add both beauty and activity to their tanks.

Origin: Native to the streams and water bodies of West Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Cameroon, the Blue Lyretail Panchax thrives in environments that mimic their natural habitats. Their adaptability to a range of water conditions makes them a resilient species, suitable for various aquarium setups.

Feeding: The Blue Lyretail Panchax is an omnivore that enjoys a varied diet. In the aquarium, they will readily accept high-quality flake foods, frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A balanced diet ensures vibrant coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates: Ideal tank mates for the Blue Lyretail Panchax include other peaceful fish of similar size. They coexist well with small tetras, rasboras, and other non-aggressive species. Avoid housing them with larger, more dominant fish that may bully or stress them.

Aggression: This species is generally peaceful and makes an excellent community fish. However, males can display territorial behavior towards each other, so it’s advisable to keep them in a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots and visual barriers to minimize aggression.

Experience Level: The Blue Lyretail Panchax is suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. Their care requirements are straightforward, making them a great choice for those new to fish keeping, while their stunning appearance and interesting behavior will also appeal to seasoned hobbyists.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72°F to 77°F (22°C to 25°C)
  • pH: 6.0 to 7.5
  • Hardness: 5 to 15 dGH

A well-maintained tank with clean, slightly acidic to neutral water, and soft to moderately hard conditions, will ensure the health and longevity of these exquisite fish. Regular water changes and a stable environment are key to mimicking their natural habitat and keeping them thriving.

Add the Blue Lyretail Panchax to your aquarium for a touch of elegance and a burst of color. Their peaceful nature and manageable care level make them a delightful addition to any freshwater community tank.
