Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma Tanganyikan African Cichlids 4cm

Overview: The Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma is a stunning cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, known for its brilliant colors and active behavior. With its iridescent scales and lively disposition, this species adds a unique charm and visual appeal to any aquarium.

Origin: Native to the Kigoma region of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma thrives in sandy and rocky environments. These cichlids are well-adapted to the lake’s clear, deep waters, where they sift through the sand for food.

Feeding: These omnivorous cichlids primarily feed on small invertebrates and plant matter. In captivity, they should be provided with a varied diet that includes high-quality flake foods, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Ensuring a diverse diet helps maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates: Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma are moderately peaceful and can coexist with other Tanganyikan cichlids. Suitable tank mates include species like Julidochromis, Neolamprologus, and Altolamprologus. Avoid keeping them with overly aggressive or significantly larger cichlids to prevent stress and aggression.

Aggression: Generally, Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma display mild to moderate aggression, particularly among males during breeding periods. They are best kept in species-specific tanks or with other peaceful to semi-aggressive Tanganyikan cichlids. Providing ample space and hiding spots can help mitigate territorial disputes.

Experience Level: Intermediate. While not overly challenging to care for, Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma require stable water conditions and a well-maintained environment, making them more suitable for aquarists with some experience in keeping cichlid aquariums.

Water Parameters: To thrive, maintain water temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C), a pH of 7.8-9.0, and a hardness of 10-20 dGH. Regular water changes and careful monitoring of water quality are essential to keep these parameters stable and conducive to their health.

In summary, the Callochromis Pleurospilus Kigoma is a vibrant and active Tanganyikan cichlid that brings life and color to any aquarium. With proper care and attention to their specific needs, they can be a rewarding addition for intermediate aquarists looking to enhance their tank with diverse and captivating species.
