Description

Corydoras Polystictus 4cm Catfish

Overview: The Corydoras Polystictus is a captivating and peaceful freshwater fish, renowned for its unique patterns and sociable nature. This small, bottom-dwelling species is a favorite among aquarists, especially for its charming personality and ease of care. It reaches up to 2.5 inches in size, making it an ideal choice for both small and large aquariums.

Origin: Originating from the clear, slow-moving rivers and tributaries of South America, particularly in Brazil, the Corydoras Polystictus thrives in environments that mimic their natural habitat.

Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, Corydoras Polystictus enjoys a varied diet. They readily accept high-quality sinking pellets or wafers, supplemented with occasional treats of live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Their scavenging habits help keep the aquarium clean, as they forage for leftover food at the bottom.

Tank Mates: This species is exceptionally peaceful and does well in a community tank. Ideal tank mates include other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, and other corydoras species. Avoid keeping them with large or aggressive fish that may see them as prey.

Aggression: Corydoras Polystictus is known for its peaceful and gentle nature. They exhibit no aggressive behaviors and are more comfortable in the company of their kind, making them a great addition to a peaceful community aquarium.

Experience Level: Due to their hardy and adaptable nature, Corydoras Polystictus is suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. They are relatively easy to care for, making them a perfect choice for those new to the hobby.

Water Parameters: Ideal water conditions include a temperature range of 72-79°F (22-26°C), pH levels between 6.0 and 7.5, and soft to moderately hard water. Regular water changes and a well-maintained filtration system are essential to keep these fish healthy. A sand or fine gravel substrate is recommended to protect their delicate barbels.

With their charming behavior and minimal care requirements, Corydoras Polystictus makes an excellent addition to any freshwater aquarium.
