Eheim LAV biological filter media

Eheim LAV is a natural lava stone biological filter media. This is a rough, highly porous filter material which has a large surface for bacteria to colonise. Suitable for use in external canister, and sump filters.

Eheim LAV needs to be placed in the filter after the mechanical media and can be built up in one or more layers. Eheim LAV is washable and can be used many times. Suitable for both fresh and saltwater.

Since this is a natural material, the stone or fragments in the packaging are of different sizes. Any left-over pieces can be used as aquarium decoration.

Top tip:

It is advisable that you clean the filter medias in old aquarium water during maintenance. Do NOT clean the filter medias in tap water as chlorine and chloramines will remove the beneficial nitrifying bacteria that have colonised during the maturation of the aquarium.

All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Wednesday and Thursday every week.
