Plakat Bettas are gorgeous freshwater fish that many people are interested in owning. Their stunning colours and fins appeal to just about anyone!

Species Summary

Plakat Bettas are a lesser-known version of the famed Betta Fish (Betta splendens). These fish are much closer in appearance to their wild counterparts, sporting a less dramatic tail and more robust built. But make no mistake: Plakat Bettas are still in high demand!

Water Parameters

The good thing about these fish is that they aren’t super demanding with water conditions. In fact, it’s one of the easiest aspects of Plakat Betta care.

Anything is a step above the murky rice paddies they’re used to!

These fish are pretty adaptable and can easily thrive in standard tropical fish conditions. They prefer warm conditions and slightly acidic water. You can use almond leaves to lower the pH and provide some tannin-infusion that closely resembles their natural habitat.

Ultimately, these fish are easy to please! As long as you stick within the basic ranges below, they should do just fine.

  • pH level: 6.0 to 7.5
  • Water hardness: 2 to 12 dKH

All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Wednesday and Thursday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible. Please ensure you have read and understood our DOA policy prior to purchase.
