Description

Flowerhorn Cichlid – Kamfa Malau Short Body

Overview:
The Kamfa Malau Short Body Flowerhorn is a premium ornamental fish known for its compact, muscular body, pronounced nuchal hump (kok), and vivid pearling patterns. This strain combines the Kamfa’s ornamental elegance with Malau robustness, resulting in a fish that is both eye-catching and highly collectible.

Origin:
Developed through selective breeding in Malaysia and Indonesia, this short-bodied Kamfa Malau emphasizes body symmetry, head growth, and pearling, producing a unique and rare centerpiece fish.

Feeding:

  • Staple Diet: High-quality Flowerhorn pellets for growth and color enhancement.

  • Supplements: Shrimp, krill, and bloodworms to intensify coloration.

  • Color Boosters: Spirulina and carotenoid-rich foods help maintain vibrant pearling and overall hue.

Tank Mates:

  • Best kept alone due to territorial aggression.

  • Only compatible with robust tank mates in large, partitioned aquariums.

Aggression Level:
Very High. Dominant and territorial; unsuitable for community tanks.

Experience Level:
Advanced. Requires careful monitoring of water quality, consistent feeding, and stable conditions to maintain peak kok development and coloration.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 78–84°F (25–29°C)

  • pH: 7.2–8.0

  • Hardness: 8–20 dGH

  • Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons for adult specimens

Unique Features:

  • Kok (Head Growth): Large, rounded, and symmetrical, prominent on the compact body.

  • Body Type: Short, stocky, and muscular, making it a standout centerpiece fish.

  • Coloration: Intense pearling with vibrant red, orange, and metallic highlights.

  • Rarity: Highly prized by collectors for its compact, show-quality body and Kamfa-Malau hybrid traits.

✨ The Kamfa Malau Short Body Flowerhorn is perfect for aquarists seeking a dramatic, heavily pearled centerpiece fish with exceptional kok and compact body proportions.
