Flowerhorn Cichlid – Pearl

Overview:
The Pearl Flowerhorn is a premium ornamental cichlid, renowned for its dense pearling across the body, robust physique, and prominent nuchal hump (kok). Its shimmering pearl-like spots and vibrant colors make it a striking centerpiece fish for advanced aquarists and collectors.

Origin:
Bred through selective hybridization in Malaysia, Indonesia, and China, the Pearl Flowerhorn emphasizes intense pearling, symmetrical body shape, and head growth, creating a visually captivating fish prized in the ornamental fish market.

Feeding:

  • Staple Diet: High-quality Flowerhorn pellets for growth and color enhancement.

  • Supplements: Bloodworms, krill, and shrimp to boost pearling and coloration.

  • Color Enhancers: Spirulina and carotenoid-rich foods maintain bright, metallic hues.

Tank Mates:

  • Best kept alone due to high territoriality.

  • Only compatible with other fish in large, partitioned tanks.

Aggression Level:
Very High. Dominant and territorial; unsuitable for standard community tanks.

Experience Level:
Advanced. Requires careful water monitoring, consistent feeding, and stable tank conditions to maintain its pearling and overall health.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 78–84°F (25–29°C)

  • pH: 7.2–8.0

  • Hardness: 8–20 dGH

  • Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons for adult specimens

Unique Features:

  • Pearling: Dense, shimmering spots cover the body, creating a striking visual effect.

  • Kok (Head Growth): Prominent and symmetrical, enhancing the fish’s show-quality appearance.

  • Body Type: Muscular, stocky, and robust, ideal for display.

  • Rarity: Highly sought after for collectors who value intense pearling combined with strong coloration and form.

✨ The Pearl Flowerhorn is a premium centerpiece fish, perfect for aquarists seeking a highly pearled, visually striking Flowerhorn with exceptional kok and collector appeal.
