Description

Flowerhorn Cichlid – Super 1.8K Malau

Overview:
The Super 1.8K Malau is a premium Flowerhorn strain prized for its exceptional kok (nuchal hump), vibrant coloration, and robust body structure. Named for its heavy head growth and superior genetics, this Malau variant showcases a solid, deep red base color with subtle pearling, making it a standout centerpiece fish for serious collectors.

Origin:
Bred in Malaysia and Indonesia, the Super 1.8K Malau originates from selective Kamfa-type and Malau lineage crossbreeding, emphasizing kok size, body mass, and color intensity.

Feeding:

  • Staple Diet: High-quality Flowerhorn pellets for growth and coloration.

  • Supplements: Live or frozen krill, shrimp, and bloodworms to enhance red pigmentation and overall health.

  • Color Boost: Spirulina or carotenoid-rich foods keep colors vivid and pearling subtle but luminous.

Tank Mates:

  • Best kept alone due to high territorial aggression.

  • Only possible tank mates are in very large, partitioned systems.

Aggression Level:
Very High. Dominant and territorial, ideal as a solo show fish.

Experience Level:
Advanced. Requires careful diet, excellent filtration, and stable water parameters to maintain peak health and coloration.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 78–84°F (25–29°C)

  • pH: 7.0–8.0

  • Hardness: 8–20 dGH

  • Minimum Tank Size: 75–100 gallons per adult

Unique Features:

  • Kok (Head Growth): Extremely pronounced and well-rounded.

  • Coloration: Rich red base with subtle pearling along the flanks.

  • Body Type: Muscular, stocky frame with strong presence.

  • Rarity: Highly prized due to consistent Malau lineage genetics and show-quality kok.

✨ The Super 1.8K Malau Flowerhorn is a premium collector’s fish, combining dramatic kok growth, vivid red coloration, and solid build, making it a true centerpiece for Flowerhorn enthusiasts.
