Description
Green Coral Goby Gobiodon Histrio
The Green Coral Goby (Gobiodon histrio) is a small, brightly colored fish native to the Asia-Pacific region. Its body is primarily a vibrant emerald green, overlaid with intricate pinkish-red squiggles and bars on the head. This species has a large, rounded head and a laterally compressed body. Green Coral Gobies are primarily carnivorous and should be fed a diet of high-quality meaty items, marine algae, Spirulina, and frozen Mysis shrimp. They are typically peaceful and can be kept with a variety of other fish, but caution should be used when combining them with large-mouthed predators. These gobies are well-suited for reef aquariums, as they are known to associate with and even nest within branching corals like Acropora. However, they can also thrive in aquariums without corals, as long as there are plenty of hiding spots and caves. A minimum tank size of 5 gallons is recommended, with 10 gallons or more preferred for a pair. Green Coral Gobies are considered a relatively easy species to care for, making them a good choice for intermediate aquarists. They require stable water parameters, including a pH of 8.1-8.4, temperature of 72-82°F, and specific gravity of 1.020-1.025.
