Julidochromis Regani Zambia Tanganyikan African Cichlids 4cm

Overview: The Julidochromis Regani Zambia, often referred to as the Regan’s Julie, is a captivating cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. Known for its striking color patterns and elongated body, this species adds beauty and interest to any aquarium setup.

Origin: Native to the rocky shorelines of Lake Tanganyika in Zambia, Julidochromis Regani thrives in environments with abundant rock formations and crevices. These cichlids are well-adapted to the clear, oxygen-rich waters of the lake, where they find shelter and breeding sites among the rocks.

Feeding: Julidochromis Regani Zambia are carnivorous, primarily feeding on small invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, they should be provided with a varied diet of high-quality flake foods, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. A diverse diet helps maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates: These cichlids are generally peaceful and can coexist with other Tanganyikan species. Suitable tank mates include species such as Neolamprologus, Altolamprologus, and other Julidochromis. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or much larger cichlids to prevent stress and territorial disputes.

Aggression: Julidochromis Regani Zambia are relatively peaceful but can exhibit territorial behavior, particularly during breeding. Providing plenty of rockwork and hiding spots helps reduce aggression and create a more harmonious environment. They do well in pairs or small groups.

Experience Level: Intermediate. While Julidochromis Regani Zambia are hardy and adaptable, they require stable water conditions and proper tank setup, making them more suitable for aquarists with some experience in maintaining cichlid aquariums.

Water Parameters: To ensure their well-being, maintain water temperatures between 75-80°F (24-27°C), a pH of 7.8-9.0, and a hardness of 10-20 dGH. Regular water changes and careful monitoring of water quality are essential to keep these parameters stable and conducive to their health.

In summary, the Julidochromis Regani Zambia is a stunning and hardy Tanganyikan cichlid that enhances any aquarium with its striking appearance and intriguing behavior. With proper care and attention to their specific needs, they can be a rewarding addition for intermediate aquarists seeking to enrich their tank with diverse and captivating species.
