L004 Angelicus Pleco Hypancistrus Sp

Overview: The L004 Angelicus Pleco, scientifically known as Hypancistrus sp., is a visually stunning pleco species renowned for its black body adorned with striking white spots. This small, peaceful pleco adds a touch of elegance and intrigue to any aquarium, making it a sought-after choice for aquarists.

Origin: Native to the Rio Negro and Orinoco River basins in South America, the L004 Angelicus Pleco thrives in soft, acidic, and well-oxygenated waters. Its natural habitat consists of rocky riverbeds with plenty of driftwood and crevices, where it finds shelter and forages for food.

Feeding: L004 Plecos are omnivorous, with a preference for protein-rich foods. Feed them a diet of high-quality sinking pellets or wafers, along with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and chopped prawns. They will also graze on algae and benefit from occasional offerings of blanched vegetables like zucchini or cucumber.

Tank Mates: This peaceful pleco is well-suited for community tanks and can be housed with other non-aggressive species. Ideal tank mates include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, Corydoras catfish, and peaceful cichlids. Providing plenty of hiding spots, such as caves and driftwood, will help them feel secure and reduce stress.

Aggression: L004 Plecos are generally peaceful and exhibit minimal aggression toward other fish. However, they can be territorial with other bottom-dwellers, particularly other plecos. Ensuring ample space and multiple hiding spots will help minimize any territorial disputes.

Experience Level: Intermediate. While the L004 Angelicus Pleco is relatively hardy, it requires specific conditions, such as soft, acidic water and a well-oxygenated environment, to thrive. Aquarists with some experience in maintaining these parameters will find this pleco a rewarding and manageable addition to their tank.

Water Parameters: To keep L004 Plecos healthy, maintain water temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C), a pH of 6.0-7.0, and soft water (2-10 dGH). A well-filtered tank with moderate water flow, plenty of hiding places, and a substrate that mimics their natural rocky riverbed habitat is essential for their well-being.

In summary, the L004 Angelicus Pleco is a striking and peaceful bottom-dweller that enhances the beauty and diversity of any aquarium. Its unique appearance and calm demeanor make it an excellent choice for intermediate aquarists seeking to add a distinctive and manageable pleco to their collection.
