Description

L134 Leopard Frog Pleco Pecktolia Compta 6cm

Overview: The L134 Leopard Frog Pleco, known for its distinctive black and yellow pattern, is a highly sought-after freshwater fish among aquarists. This dwarf species can reach up to 3.5-4 inches in length, making it a perfect addition to small and medium-sized tanks. Its peaceful nature and unique appearance have made it a favorite among fish enthusiasts.

Origin: Native to the Amazon River basin in Brazil, the Leopard Frog Pleco thrives in fast-flowing waters. It is typically found hiding among riverbed rocks and driftwood, mimicking its natural habitat in the aquarium is crucial for its wellbeing.

Feeding: Primarily a herbivore, the L134 Leopard Frog Pleco’s diet should consist of high-quality vegetable-based foods, such as algae wafers and blanched vegetables. Occasional protein in the form of bloodworms or brine shrimp can be offered sparingly.

Tank Mates: This species is best kept with other peaceful fish of similar size. Ideal tank mates include small tetras, rasboras, and corydoras. Avoid housing with large, aggressive species that may intimidate or harm the pleco.

Aggression: The Leopard Frog Pleco is a peaceful and shy species, showing little to no aggression towards tank mates. However, it can be territorial with other bottom dwellers, especially of its own kind, so provide ample hiding spots to prevent disputes.

Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists, the L134 requires a bit of experience to maintain optimal water conditions and diet. Its sensitivity to water quality makes it less ideal for beginners.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 77-86°F (25-30°C)
  • pH: 6.5-7.5
  • Hardness: 6-10 dGH

Ensure the tank is well-oxygenated with a moderate to strong flow to mimic its natural habitat. Regular water changes and a stable environment are key to keeping this beautiful species healthy and vibrant.
