SKU: STF-LIPSTICK-LEPO Category:

Description

The Lipstick Arcus Leporinus is an eye-catching freshwater fish known for its striking black and yellow striped body with a vibrant red or “lipstick” marking around its mouth. Native to South America, particularly found in river systems of the Amazon Basin, this fish can grow up to 12 inches and is popular for its unique appearance and active swimming.
Origin: Amazon Basin, South America.
Feeding: Primarily herbivorous, the Lipstick Arcus Leporinus enjoys a diet of vegetables, algae-based foods, and occasional protein sources like bloodworms or brine shrimp.
Tank Mates: Ideal tank mates are other large, peaceful fish, such as certain cichlids, catfish, or large tetras. Avoid keeping them with small or delicate species, as they may nip fins.
Aggression: Moderately aggressive; they may become territorial, especially if kept in a small or crowded tank. Best kept in larger tanks with hiding spots to minimise aggressive behaviour.
Experience Level: Intermediate to advanced; they require specific water conditions and a large tank with proper filtration.
Water Parameters:
pH: 6.0 – 7.5
Temperature: 72°F – 82°F (22°C – 28°C)
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (up to 15 dGH)
A captivating choice for experienced aquarists, the Lipstick Arcus Leporinus brings bold color and a dynamic presence to larger, well-maintained freshwater aquariums.
