Long Fin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco Ancistrus 3cm

Overview: The Long Fin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco is a captivating and unique variant of the Ancistrus species, known for its striking blue eyes and vibrant lemon-yellow body coloration. This freshwater fish is adorned with elongated fins that add to its graceful appearance. Reaching up to 5-6 inches in length, it’s a relatively small pleco that makes a visually appealing addition to many aquarium setups.

Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers and tributaries of South America, this species has adapted to a variety of water conditions. Its vibrant coloration is the result of selective breeding in captivity, making it a rare and sought-after specimen for aquarium enthusiasts.

Feeding: Primarily herbivorous, the Long Fin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco thrives on a diet rich in vegetables and algae. Supplement with high-quality sinking pellets, wafers, and occasional treats like zucchini, cucumbers, and blanched spinach to ensure a balanced diet. Their algae-eating habit also makes them valuable for controlling algae growth in tanks.

Tank Mates: This pleco is peaceful and can be housed with a wide variety of tank mates including small to medium-sized fish, and similarly peaceful species. Avoid housing with large, aggressive fish that may bully or harm them. They are excellent for community tanks due to their calm nature.

Aggression: The Long Fin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco is notably peaceful and shows little to no aggression towards other fish. However, males can be territorial towards each other, especially during breeding. Providing ample hiding spaces can help mitigate any potential aggression.

Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of all levels, from beginners to advanced. They are hardy and relatively easy to care for, provided their basic needs for diet and environment are met. Their unique appearance and behavior make them a fascinating addition for any hobbyist.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 73-81°F (23-27°C)
  • pH: 6.5-7.5
  • Hardness: 6-10 dGH
  • Regular water changes and filtration are essential to maintain clean and stable water conditions.

The Long Fin Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco is an enchanting species that combines beauty with utility, making it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced aquarists looking to add a touch of elegance and natural algae control to their aquariums.
