Madagascar Rainbow Fish Bedotia Madagascarensis 4cm

Overview: The Madagascar Rainbow Fish, scientifically known as Bedotia madagascarensis, is a stunning and active freshwater fish that brings vibrant color and energy to any aquarium. With its elongated body, shimmering scales, and vibrant red, orange, and blue hues, this rainbowfish is a captivating addition to medium to large-sized tanks.

Origin: Native to the slow-moving rivers and streams of Madagascar, particularly in the northeastern regions, the Madagascar Rainbow Fish thrives in clear, well-oxygenated waters. Their natural habitat is often shaded by overhanging vegetation, and they are accustomed to moderate water flow.

Feeding: Madagascar Rainbow Fish are omnivorous and thrive on a varied diet. They should be fed high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A varied diet will help maintain their vibrant coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates: These peaceful fish are best kept in schools of six or more, which helps them feel secure and display their best colors. They are compatible with other peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, barbs, Corydoras catfish, and other rainbowfish. Due to their active nature, they do best with similarly sized and non-aggressive tank mates.

Aggression: Madagascar Rainbow Fish are peaceful and non-aggressive, making them ideal for community tanks. They are social fish that enjoy the company of their own species and other non-aggressive tank mates.

Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate. The Madagascar Rainbow Fish is relatively hardy and adapts well to a variety of tank conditions, making it suitable for both novice and experienced aquarists. Their manageable care requirements and striking appearance make them a popular choice for community aquariums.

Water Parameters: To keep Madagascar Rainbow Fish healthy, maintain water temperatures between 72-79°F (22-26°C), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water (5-15 dGH). A well-planted tank with plenty of swimming space, moderate water flow, and good filtration is ideal to replicate their natural environment.

In summary, the Madagascar Rainbow Fish is a colorful, peaceful, and active species that adds beauty and life to any aquarium. Its ease of care and compatibility with other peaceful fish make it an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
