Malaysian 24K Golden Crossback Arowana Scleropages Formosus 20cm

Overview: The Malaysian 24K Golden High Back Arowana is a breathtaking freshwater fish that captivates enthusiasts with its stunning golden hues and majestic appearance. Known for its symbolic significance of prosperity and luck in many cultures, this Arowana variant is a prized addition to any aquarium.

Origin: This exquisite species originates from the freshwater bodies of Malaysia. It thrives in a habitat that mirrors the tropical conditions of its homeland, requiring careful attention to tank setup to mimic its natural environment.

Feeding: The 24K Golden Arowana is a carnivorous species, preferring a diet rich in protein. Feed them a variety of foods including live or frozen shrimp, small fish, and mealworms. It’s crucial to maintain a balanced diet to ensure their golden coloration remains vibrant and their health optimal.

Tank Mates: Choosing the right tank mates is essential as Arowanas can be territorial. Suitable companions include larger, peaceful fish that can hold their own without provoking aggression. Avoid small fish that could be mistaken for prey. Consult with a specialist to curate a harmonious community.

Aggression: While majestic, the 24K Golden Arowana can exhibit aggression towards other fish, especially in cramped conditions or when competing for food. A spacious tank and carefully selected tank mates can mitigate aggressive behavior, ensuring a peaceful aquatic environment.

Experience Level: Due to their specific care requirements and potential size (up to 3 feet in length), the Malaysian 24K Golden High Back Arowana is recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists. Their care requires a commitment to maintaining optimal tank conditions and a diet that supports their health and coloration.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 75°F to 86°F (24°C to 30°C)
  • pH: 6.5 to 7.5
  • Hardness: 5 to 15 dGH

A well-filtered aquarium with ample swimming space is essential, ideally with a capacity of at least 250 gallons to accommodate their size and activity level. Regular water changes and monitoring of water conditions are vital to keeping these magnificent fish healthy and vibrant.

In conclusion, the Malaysian 24K Golden High Back Arowana is a stunning and rewarding fish for the dedicated aquarist. With proper care, they can be the centerpiece of a beautifully maintained aquarium, bringing a touch of golden elegance to any aquatic setting.
