The Mexican Turbo Snail, also known as the Turban or Top Shell Snail (Turbo fluctuosa), is a popular addition to marine aquariums. This snail has a thick, top-shaped shell with an iridescent interior. Originating from the coastal regions of Mexico, the Mexican Turbo Snail is a herbivore that feeds on algae, making it an excellent cleanup crew member. It is reef-safe and generally peaceful, making it suitable for community aquariums. The Mexican Turbo Snail can grow up to 2 inches (5 cm) in size and requires a minimum tank size of 10 gallons. It is considered an easy-to-keep species, suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarium hobbyists. To ensure the optimal care of the Mexican Turbo Snail, the aquarium should maintain a stable temperature between 72-82°F (22-28°C), a pH of 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020-1.025.
