Overview

The One Spot Squeaker Catfish is a striking and hardy Synodontis species known for its sleek silver-grey body and signature single dark spot near the midsection. Active, durable, and full of personality, it makes an excellent addition to medium-to-large freshwater aquariums.

Origin

Native to the Congo River Basin in Central Africa, inhabiting slow to moderate-flowing rivers and tributaries.

Feeding

Omnivorous and undemanding:

  • Sinking pellets or wafers

  • Frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis)

  • Occasional live foods

  • Vegetables such as cucumber or blanched spinach

They naturally scavenge, helping keep the tank tidy.

Tank Mates

Peaceful with similarly sized or larger fish, including:

  • African tetras

  • Rainbowfish

  • Larger barbs

  • Peaceful cichlids (e.g., Congo River species)

  • Other Synodontis

Avoid: Tiny fish that may be accidentally eaten or overly aggressive tank mates.

Aggression

Low to moderate. Generally peaceful but may show dominance toward other bottom dwellers. Best kept singly or in groups of 3+ to reduce territorial squabbles.

Intermediate. Hardy but requires good water quality and enough space to thrive.

Courier Service Level Agreement

Our courier collects livestock from us on the evening before your selected delivery date. Delivery is made the following day before 1:00pm, with livestock maintained in the same condition and temperature as at collection.

Tracking details will be sent directly by our courier (DX) on the evening of collection. You will also receive a text message around 9:00am on the day of delivery with your estimated delivery time slot.
