Pearl Black Shrimp Neocaridina Zhangjiajiensis 2cm

Overview: The Pearl Black Shrimp (Caridina) is a striking freshwater invertebrate prized for its deep black coloration and graceful appearance. These shrimp are a captivating addition to any aquarium, known for their peaceful nature and distinctive beauty.

Origin: Originally from Southeast Asia, particularly found in rivers and streams with stable, clean water conditions.

Feeding: Pearl Black Shrimp are omnivorous and primarily scavengers, feeding on algae, biofilm, and decaying plant matter. They thrive on a varied diet that includes quality shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables (such as zucchini or spinach), and occasional protein-rich treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp.

Tank Mates: Best kept in a species-specific tank or with small, non-aggressive fish that won’t prey on or stress them. Peaceful tank mates such as small rasboras, small tetras, or snails can coexist well.

Aggression: Pearl Black Shrimp are incredibly peaceful and non-aggressive. They prefer a tranquil environment and can become stressed in the presence of aggressive tank mates.

Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, although maintaining stable water conditions and meeting their specific requirements for water parameters can be more demanding for beginners.

Water Parameters: These shrimp thrive in stable, well-established aquariums with the following parameters:

  • Temperature: 70-78°F (21-26°C)
  • pH: 6.0-7.5
  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (GH 4-8, KH 0-5)
