Royal Gramma Pseudochromis Fridmani
The Royal Gramma (Pseudochromis fridmani) is a stunning marine fish native to the Caribbean Sea and western Atlantic Ocean. This small, peaceful fish grows to around 3-4 inches and displays vibrant purple, yellow, and blue hues. It is a carnivore that feeds on small crustaceans and fish in the wild. For captivity, the Royal Gramma requires a mature reef aquarium of at least 30 gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding spots. It is generally peaceful but may quarrel with its own species, so it’s best kept singly or in a mated pair. Suitable tankmates include other peaceful fish of similar size, like clownfish, cardinalfish, and some gobies. The Royal Gramma is recommended for experienced aquarists due to its specific dietary and environmental needs. It requires excellent water quality with the following parameters: temperature 72-78°F, pH 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.023-1.025.
