Overview:
The Shusui Butterfly Japanese Koi is a striking ornamental koi featuring a smooth, scaleless body with a vivid blue dorsal line and vibrant red or orange accents along the sides. Enhanced by long, flowing butterfly fins, this variety offers a graceful and eye-catching presence in any premium pond.
Origin:
Originating from Japan, the Shusui variety is a Doitsu (scaleless) version of the Asagi koi. It is prized for its clean lines, symmetrical patterning, and refined contrast between blue, white, and red tones. The butterfly-fin form adds extra elegance and movement.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feed high-quality, color-enhancing koi pellets as a staple, supplemented with vegetables, shrimp, or seasonal treats. Feed 1–2 times daily during warmer months.
Tank / Pond Mates:
Peaceful and social. Best kept with other koi or calm, similarly sized pond fish such as goldfish.
Temperament / Aggression:
Very peaceful and non-aggressive, making it ideal for community koi ponds.
