“Originating from South America, the Spotted Headstander (Chilodus punctatus) enchants with its distinctive upside-down swimming posture. These peaceful, slender fish showcase elegant spotted patterns along their bodies, adding a touch of charm to any freshwater tank.
Feeding on small live and frozen foods, they also relish in vegetable-based flakes and pellets. Their omnivorous diet makes them easy to cater for.
These sociable creatures thrive in groups and are best suited in tanks with similarly peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and peaceful catfish. Their non-aggressive nature makes them excellent tank mates for various species.
For aquarists, the Spotted Headstander is moderately easy to care for, ideal for intermediate hobbyists. They require a well-maintained tank with stable water parameters (pH 6.5-7.5, temperature 72-78°F), and appreciate ample hiding spots among plants and driftwood.

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
