Origin and Habitat

The Suntail Goby is found in coral-rich areas of the Indo-Pacific, ranging from the Red Sea to the Hawaiian Islands.

Feeding Habits

This goby is an omnivore and will accept a varied diet of meaty foods, such as frozen or live brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and finely chopped seafood or marine fish pellets.

Suitable Tank Mates

The Suntail Goby is a peaceful fish and can be kept with other non-aggressive species, such as clownfish, cardinalfish, and certain wrasses. Avoid housing it with larger, aggressive fish that may view it as prey.

Aggression Level

The Suntail Goby is generally non-aggressive and can be kept in a community aquarium with other peaceful species. However, it may exhibit some territorial behavior towards its own kind.

Experience Level

This fish is suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists, as long as its specific care requirements are met.

Water Parameters

To thrive, the Suntail Goby requires the following water parameters:

  • Temperature: 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C)
  • pH: 8.1 to 8.4
  • Salinity: 1.023 to 1.025 (specific gravity)
  • Well-oxygenated water with moderate to strong water flow

Providing a mature aquarium with live rock and ample hiding places will help this goby feel secure and display its natural behaviors.
