Zebra Acara Cichlid Nannacara Adoketa 3cm

Overview: The Zebra Acara Cichlid, scientifically known as Nannacara adoketa, is a captivating and relatively rare species in the aquarium trade. Admired for its striking coloration and peaceful demeanor, this dwarf cichlid makes a beautiful addition to any freshwater aquarium. With its zebra-like stripes and vibrant colors, the Zebra Acara Cichlid is sure to be the centerpiece of your tank.

Origin: Nannacara adoketa originates from the slow-moving streams and tributaries of the Amazon Basin in South America. This species thrives in environments with plenty of cover and soft, acidic water, closely mimicking their natural habitat is crucial for their well-being in captivity.

Feeding: Zebra Acara Cichlids are omnivores with a preference for live and frozen foods. A diet consisting of brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, and high-quality flake or pellet food will ensure they receive the necessary nutrients. Regular feeding of varied foods will help maintain their vibrant colors and overall health.

Tank Mates: Given their peaceful nature, Zebra Acara Cichlids do well with other similarly sized and tempered fish. Ideal tank mates include small tetras, rasboras, and other dwarf cichlids. Avoid housing them with large or overly aggressive species to prevent stress and potential harm.

Aggression: Nannacara adoketa exhibits minimal aggression and is considered one of the more peaceful cichlid species. However, males may show territorial behavior during breeding. Providing ample space and hiding spots can help mitigate any aggression and ensure harmony within the tank.

Experience Level: Due to their specific care requirements and sensitivity to water conditions, Zebra Acara Cichlids are best suited for intermediate to advanced aquarists. Enthusiasts willing to invest time in maintaining optimal tank conditions will find keeping this species a rewarding experience.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 74-80°F (23-27°C)
  • pH: 5.5-7.0

Maintaining stable water parameters and regular water changes are crucial to keeping your Zebra Acara Cichlids healthy. Soft, slightly acidic water closely mimics their natural environment and supports their well-being.
