Origin

Native to Central America, including southern Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. Found in rivers, lakes, and slow-moving streams with submerged vegetation and rocky areas.

Feeding

Omnivorous with a carnivorous preference. Accepts high-quality pellets, flakes, frozen foods (shrimp, bloodworms, krill), and live foods. A varied diet ensures optimal growth and coloration.

Tank Mates

Best kept with other large, robust fish. Avoid small species that may be viewed as prey. Compatible with other large cichlids if the tank is spacious and territories are established.

Aggression

Moderate to high. Territorial, especially during breeding. Provide ample hiding spots and visual barriers to reduce conflicts.

Courier Service Level Agreement

Our courier collects livestock from us on the evening before your selected delivery date. Delivery is made the following day before 1:00pm, with livestock maintained in the same condition and temperature as at collection.

Tracking details will be sent directly by our courier (DX) on the evening of collection. You will also receive a text message around 9:00am on the day of delivery with your estimated delivery time slot.
