Description
Mimic Heraldi Tang Acanthurus Pyroferus
The Mimic Heraldi Tang, scientifically known as Acanthurus pyroferus, is a captivating marine fish native to the Indo-Pacific region. As a juvenile, it exhibits a bright yellow circular body that resembles the Centropyge heraldi dwarf angelfish, hence the name “Mimic Heraldi Tang”. This herbivorous fish requires a varied diet consisting primarily of algae, including algae-based flakes, dried seaweed, and frozen foods with spirulina. It is considered reef-safe and generally peaceful, but may become territorial towards other tangs or surgeonfish as it matures. For optimal care, the Mimic Heraldi Tang should be kept in an established aquarium of at least 120 gallons, with ample swimming space and hiding spots. The water parameters should be maintained at a pH of 8.1-8.4, salinity of 1.020-1.025, and a temperature range of 74-82°F. This species is recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarium hobbyists due to its specific water quality and dietary requirements. Suitable tank mates for the Mimic Heraldi Tang include flame angelfish, yellow clown gobies, lyretail anthias, cleaner wrasses, and six-line wrasses
