Overview: The Mono Angelfish, also known as the Silver Moony, is a strikingly elegant freshwater fish revered for its silvery coloration and graceful demeanor. Originating from brackish and freshwater habitats in Africa and Asia, this species captivates with its unique appearance and peaceful nature.
Origin: Found in estuaries and freshwater rivers across Africa and Asia, the Mono Angelfish thrives in environments with a mix of salt and freshwater.
Feeding: These omnivores enjoy a varied diet consisting of live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and high-quality flake or pellet foods. They also appreciate occasional plant matter for a well-rounded diet.
Tank Mates: Ideally suited for peaceful community tanks, Monos get along well with other non-aggressive species like tetras, gouramis, and peaceful cichlids. However, avoid housing them with fin-nipping or aggressive tank mates.
Aggression: Generally peaceful, Monos prefer calm environments and can become stressed in overly aggressive or crowded setups. They may display territorial behavior during breeding but are otherwise mild-mannered.
Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, although beginners may benefit from prior experience with maintaining water quality and managing a semi-aggressive tank community.
Water Parameters: Monos thrive in water temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH range of 7.0-8.5. They prefer moderately hard water conditions with adequate filtration and regular water changes to maintain pristine conditions.
