“Originating from the rocky shores of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, the Neolamprologus Mustax Cichlid showcases stunning iridescent hues and unique markings. This species prefers a habitat with plenty of rock formations, mimicking its natural environment.
Feeding these cichlids involves a varied diet including high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms. They also relish in picking at algae and small invertebrates in the tank.
These cichlids, while beautiful, can be assertive. Careful selection of tank mates is crucial, favoring species of similar size and temperament. Avoid housing them with overly passive fish or those with long, flowing fins, as the Mustax Cichlid might perceive them as targets for aggression.
Their territorial behavior demands a well-structured tank with plenty of hiding spots and caves. Experienced aquarists familiar with cichlid behavior will find joy in caring for and observing these fascinating creatures.
Maintaining stable water conditions is vital. They thrive in water with pH levels ranging between 7.8 to 9.0 and a temperature around 75-80°F (24-27°C). Regular water changes and proper filtration ensure a healthy environment for these striking Tanganyikan cichlids.”

We operate a UK wide next day delivery service available through DX overnight, a DEFRA registered courier. All our fish are packed in double thickness bags for safety and filled with pure oxygen. The bags are then wrapped in a foil blanket with heat packs to keep them warm. They are then packed in a large polystyrene box with a cardboard outer. All our fish are booked with the courier as “live fish” and travel in security cages throughout their journey. All fish are only in the box for a maximum of 18 hours which is our service level agreement with the courier. Your delivery date will be communicated to you via email within 24 hours of purchase and your tracking information will be sent to you directly via email by DX the evening before your scheduled delivery date. Please contact us if you would like to change your delivery date to a more convenient time. Deliveries are made on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week. We will always try our very best to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible.
