Description

Neolamprologus Pulcher Daffodil Tanganyikan African Cichlids 5cm

Overview: The Neolamprologus Pulcher, commonly known as the Daffodil Cichlid, is a striking species originating from the rocky shores of Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Known for its vibrant yellow coloration and fascinating social behavior, these cichlids add vibrancy and personality to any aquarium.

Origin: Hailing from Lake Tanganyika, this species prefers rocky habitats with plenty of caves and crevices for shelter and territorial delineation.

Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, Daffodil Cichlids thrive on a varied diet comprising high-quality pellets or flakes supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and occasionally some vegetable matter.

Tank Mates: Best kept with other Tanganyikan cichlids in a species-specific tank or with fish of similar size and temperament. Avoid housing them with significantly smaller or more timid fish, as their territorial behavior can lead to aggression.

Aggression: While generally peaceful within their own species, Daffodil Cichlids can display aggression when establishing territories or during breeding. Providing adequate hiding spots and space can help mitigate potential conflicts.

Experience Level: Recommended for aquarists with moderate experience in maintaining cichlids. Their specific needs and territorial behavior require careful attention to tank setup and monitoring.

Water Parameters: Ideal water conditions mimic those of Lake Tanganyika: pH ranging between 7.8 to 9.0, water temperature around 75-80°F (24-27°C), and hardness between 10-20 dGH.
